🎃 No Tricks, Just Treats: Why Halloween (and IAACE) Is So Sweet

Halloween might just be the best reminder of why community matters. The costumes, the candy, the laughter—and that feeling of connection when neighbors, friends, and families come together just for the joy of it. It’s a day that makes my heart happy and my sweet tooth very, very busy. 🍬

A Season of Costumes, Candy, and Community

There’s something wonderful about watching trick-or-treaters parade down the street in their costumes—each one showing off their creativity and courage. For one night, everyone gets to be something magical, scary, or hilarious, and no one takes themselves too seriously.

Honestly, that’s part of why I love this day so much. It’s playful, welcoming, and just a little bit weird—kind of like the best professional communities I know! I identify with being a wee bit weird.

And that brings me right back to IAACE.

We might not show up in full costume (though I’d never say no to a themed Zoom background), but we definitely show up for each other. We learn together, laugh together, and keep the spirit of connection going long after the candy bowls are empty.

The Sweetest Surprises Are Still to Come

Just like that hidden stash of chocolate you swore you weren’t saving for later, IAACE has a few sweet surprises up our sleeve.

We’re getting ready to launch some new virtual professional development sessions—designed to inspire, educate, and energize you (without a sugar crash).

Here are a few  names we’re tossing around:

Mind Morsels – bite-sized virtual sessions packed with insight.

Member Magic – highlights special IAACE-only sessions.

The Learning Lounge – casual but valuable drop-in sessions.

Snackable Sessions” – short and easy PD.

We would love to hear your thoughts on which one you like. Just comment on this blog! Each session will offer the same thing you love about IAACE: connection, learning, and a few laughs along the way.

Keep the Spirit Alive

As you trade ghost stories and sneak a few more fun-size snacks (again, no judgment), remember that the best part of Halloween—the joy of connecting—doesn’t have to fade with the season.
