2026 IAACE Annual Membership Meeting Recap
Members from across Indiana gathered virtually and in person to celebrate accomplishments, review association business, hear statewide updates and discuss the future of adult education.

The IAACE and ILA Annual Meeting brought together members from across Indiana to reflect on a year of strong growth, advocacy, and collaboration in adult education and literacy. One of the highlights of the meeting was the celebration of the successful COABE conference with Sharon Booney, COABE CEO. The COABE Conference held in Indianapolis, which welcomed 2,584 attendees and became the third-largest conference in COABE history. Members also received important legislative updates from IAACE lobbyist, Lauren Box, including the passage of House Enrolled Act 1195, extending Indiana’s high school equivalency pilot program through June 30, 2028.
Financial reports showed IAACE remains in a healthy position, ending the year with a surplus of $57,211. Members approved the upcoming budget and heard updates about the 2026 IAACE Conference, scheduled for September 30–October 2 at Belterra. Board elections were also held, welcoming Ryan LaPlante as President-Elect and Katie Walton as Treasurer, along with four newly elected at-large board members, Adrienne Carrol, Marilyn Pitzulo, Hannah Price and Katie Sattler.
Additional discussions focused on bylaw updates, professional development opportunities, strategic planning, advocacy efforts, and continued partnerships with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. Members were encouraged to complete the membership survey, submit conference proposals and award nominations, participate in committee work, and continue sharing the impact of adult education across Indiana.
The meeting concluded with updates from the Indiana Literacy Association and a renewed commitment to strengthening adult education, workforce development, and lifelong learning opportunities throughout the state.
The 2026 IAACE and ILA Annual Meeting was held on Friday, May 15.
All agenda items passed, including the 2026-2027 budget and the bylaw revisions.
