Each year, Adult Education and Family Literacy (AEFL) Week shines a spotlight on the life-changing opportunities that adult education brings to individuals, families, and communities. This week is a time to raise awareness, celebrate success stories, and highlight the essential role that adult education plays in building a stronger workforce and a brighter future.
Why AEFL Week Matters
Across the country, millions of adults are working to improve their skills in reading, writing, math, and English language learning. Others are pursuing a High School Equivalency (HSE) or earning industry-recognized certifications that open doors to better careers. Adult education doesn’t just transform the lives of students; it also strengthens families and communities by creating opportunities for future generations.
Local and Statewide Recognition
This year, mayors across Indiana are joining us in celebrating AEFL Week by issuing official mayoral proclamations. These proclamations publicly recognize the importance of adult education and the impact it has on local communities. Their leadership demonstrates that investing in adult education means investing in a stronger workforce, a more engaged citizenry, and a brighter future for all. We are grateful to our community leaders for standing alongside our programs.
