A Tip to Help bring Awareness to your Adult Education Center
We’ve asked a few members on how IAACE can serve our members and your programs better. The answer, marketing, bringing awareness to the field of Adult Education and all the opportunities as well as the education of the process of the High School Equivalency. To assist with this we offer a tip to check your program information on the National Literacy Directory, https://www.nld.org/, or add your program! What is the NLD?
The National Literacy Directory has helped connect more than 50,000 potential students and volunteers to literacy services, community education programs, and testing centers since 2010. It provides listings for Early Childhood, Family Literacy, High School Equivalency/Adult Basic Education, English Language Learning, and Citizenship Classes.
So, How do you do add a program?
(If you are on the NLD, then login to check the directory that your information is correct, the Program Manager Portal https://www.nld.org/login.)
Step One: If you do not have a listing, create a login for the portal at https://www.nld.org/register
You will create your account by creating your username and password and entering your contact information. Check the I’m not a robot button and submit.
You will receive a confirmation on the screen that says
“You have been sent a welcome email containing a link to verify your email account. After doing so, you will be able to add your program listing(s).”
Once you create your new account, you will receive an emailed activation link. This enables you to log in to add your new program and submit it for approval and publishing by NLD staff.
Be sure to check your spam/junk folders if you do not receive this welcome and activation email within 10 minutes of creating your account.
To help ensure successful email notification delivery, please add nld@familieslearning.org to your email client’s address book.
Step Two: Go to your inbox of the email you created the account with and click the verify email link. You will then be directed to the Dashboard screen that says,
Dashboard
Thank you for verifying your email address.
Your program manager account is now activated.
Get started by adding your program listing by clicking the “Add A Program” button in your Dashboard’s left-hand menu bar.
Step Three: Clicking that button, “Add a Program” on the left side of the screen.
Step Four: Complete all of the information on the screen about your program. This includes the program name, address, state, city, zip, (be sure and click the ‘get lat/lng button’) phone, hours of operation, cost description, website URL, Facebook handle, Twitter handles, check the list of services you provide, instruction type, upload your logo, success stories, other pictures, your mission, and vision statement, you’ll confirm that all this information is correct. You may also upload a brochure or other file. (bold are required, all others are optional.)
Click the captcha option and submit.
Step Five: You will receive a message on the screen that says, “Program successfully submitted!
It will be reviewed and once approved, it will be published.”
Step Six: Keep an eye out for your approval email and check your listing when it goes live to verify all the information.
Step Seven: Congratulate yourself on adding your program to the National Literacy Directory and add it to your list of things to do when programming changes or anything about your services and instruction changes as well.
