Warm Wishes and Year-End Reflections

December 24 is here! This season brings with it a special kind of magic — twinkling lights, full hearts, and a moment to slow down before the new year begins. It’s a time for celebration, gratitude, and reflection, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to pause and share a few thoughts as we close out the year together.

Celebrating a Year of Impact

This year was filled with meaningful moments that reminded me just how powerful adult education truly is. From inspiring conversations with educators and leaders to witnessing the determination and success of adult learners, each experience reinforced why this work matters so much. Adult education changes lives — and it’s a joy to see that impact unfold every day.

Serving in the executive director role continues to be both energizing and rewarding. While no two days ever look the same, the constant is the shared commitment to supporting learners and strengthening programs. Seeing connections flourish, ideas spark, and progress happen has been one of the greatest gifts of the year.

The Joy of Community

If this year taught me anything, it’s that IAACE shines brightest because of its people. Our educators, partners, volunteers, advocates, and members bring passion, creativity, and heart to everything they do. Your willingness to collaborate, share, and support one another is what makes this community so special.

Whether through professional development, advocacy efforts, conferences, or everyday conversations, you continue to show up for adult learners — and for each other. That spirit of generosity and teamwork is something truly worth celebrating.

A Season of Thanks

The holidays naturally invite us to reflect on what we’re grateful for, and my list is long. I am deeply thankful for your trust in IAACE, your engagement throughout the year, and your dedication to adult education. I’m grateful for colleagues who bring both joy and commitment to this work, and for learners who inspire us with their courage and determination.

Looking Ahead with Cheer

As we get ready to ring in a new year, I’ve been reflecting on my word for 2025: flourish. This year has truly embodied that idea — growth in our programs, stronger connections across our community, and renewed energy around our shared mission. Watching IAACE, our members, and our learners flourish has been one of the most rewarding parts of my role.

And as for my 2026 word? That word hasn’t picked me yet — and I’m okay with that. Sometimes the best place to be is open, curious, and ready for what’s next. I trust that when the time is right, the word will come, shaped by the work ahead and the possibilities waiting to unfold.

On this December 24, I hope your day is filled with warmth, laughter, and a little time to rest and recharge.
