Gratitude in Every Direction: A Thanksgiving Message from IAACE

As we gather in this season of gratitude, I’ve been reflecting on the many blessings in my life—big and small, obvious and overlooked—and I’m reminded that thankfulness is less about what we have and more about what we recognize. The same is true for our work in adult education.

I am grateful for the people who shape my world: being a wife, a Gigi, a sister, an aunt, a great aunt—and yes, even a great, great aunt. Each role reminds me that I’m part of a wonderfully unique, beautifully imperfect family tree. I’m thankful for the friends and loved ones who walk alongside me, and for the joyful companionship of my dog, Hippo, who always greets me as if I’m the best thing that has ever happened, and that kind of joy should never be taken for granted

I’m profoundly thankful for my health and the ability to keep showing up in the world with energy and purpose. And I’m grateful to be a lifelong learner, continually growing, discovering, and improving, both personally and professionally. That spirit of learning is something I treasure deeply, and it connects me to the heart of the work we all do.

I’m also grateful for the everyday blessings that quietly carry us forward: a warm home, the ability to work with purpose, the the simple comforts we often take for granted. These small miracles, running water, electricity, and mobility, are reminders of just how much we have to be thankful for. Gratitude opens our eyes to what’s been there all along.

In that same spirit, as the IAACE team, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of YOU. Your dedication to adult education, your teaching, your advocacy, your leadership, and your behind-the-scenes brilliance change lives every single day.

Because of you, adult learners gain confidence and opportunity.

Because of you, families and communities grow stronger.

Because of you, the story of adult education moves forward with purpose and pride.

Thank you for your membership, your engagement, and the passion you bring to our community. You are the heartbeat of this work, and I am profoundly grateful to walk alongside you.

From all of us at IAACE (Rob, Me, and the Board), we wish you a joyful, restorative, and gratitude-filled Thanksgiving.

We are grateful for you, today and every day.

Warmly,

Jenn Wigginton, IAACE Executive Director
