Essay Contest

We’re excited to announce that the annual adult learner essay contest has arrived! This opportunity invites adult education students to share their voices, experiences, and growth through storytelling.

The contest prompt question is: How has Adult Education Helped You Go Further? Students will be encouraged to reflect on their journeys, overcoming obstacles, reaching milestones, and discovering new possibilities through learning.

Contest Highlights:

• Submission Deadline: December 12, 2026

• Essay Requirements:

  • Length: 3–5 paragraphs (maximum 750 words)

  • Format: Typed and submitted electronically using the form at the bottom of this page.

Why Participate?

This is more than a writing contest—it’s a platform for amplifying the voices of adult learners and recognizing the power of education to change lives. Each story submitted is a testament to perseverance, purpose, and progress.

Winners will be notified no later than January 22, 2027. The public announcement will be at Adult Education Day on Thursday, February 18, at the Indiana Statehouse.
