Dear IAACE Members,
This is my last President’s message, it has been an honor to serve on the IAACE  Board and I’m thankful for the opportunity. Thank you to each and every person that helped me along the way.
As I take on the Past President’s role I wonder how can we continue to build our membership and our benefits.  As we turn the fiscal year over please take a moment and let us know what we have done right and what you would like to see in the future. Contact me or any board member to provide your thoughts,

Thank you for being an IAACE member, read on and stay safe out there.

2020 IAACE Award Winners

The IAACE Award Show was held via Zoom.  We want to thank everyone who nominated this year and give all nominees a bravo because the awards committee had their work cut out for them this year.  We had twenty nominees for all the categories and every submission is worthy of an award. Thank you to each nominator for taking your time and talent to submit your nominations.  Bravo to all nominees.

Each year the award ceremony is usually a part of our annual conference, the pandemic had other plans.  We want to thank everyone for being willing to take the time today to give the winners the recognition they deserve.

Susan Shannon, Adult Education Director of the Miami County Adult Education Program shared a letter from an adult learner, Anh Nguyen. Anh is a “graduate student at Miami County Adult Education, she received her HSE in June of 2019. Anh instructors were Brenda and Mary.  She is attending Ivy Tech Community College pursuing her Dental Assisting degree. We pulled a couple of excerpts from the letter that provide Susan and her program with some Kudos. Here are the excerpts, “Brenda and Mary are very nice people and they did not only care about my education but also gave me great advices on my real life problems. My evening class was always filled with their care and support for anybody that needed help with their study. When such a big change in environment had me in for a little shock after I moved to Indiana, I was met with their gentle leadership and great help as well as emotional support, I regained my balance and curiosity to get back to the search of knowledge. I started coming to the evening class with more confidence in my intellectual ability and an inspiration to push the limits on what I could memorize every time. While I loved all the trees and shrubs around my neighborhood in Peru, but at the same time, I could not stop thinking about my hometown and family back home. Showing up in class to be greeted by Brenda, Mary, and my friends has always been a great motivation for me to learn as much as I could to make them proud.”

Miami County Adult Ed was and is still a safe haven where I would not feel judged on my missed high school years, and I feel proud to know that all of my teachers are there to do the best they could to help students that fell behind their peers in education like me!”

Bravo and Kudos to all the crew at Miami County Adult Education, keep doing what you do.
