You Probably Won’t Read This

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” —Dr. Seuss

Today is National Read a Book Day. The day is about picking up a book instead of the other time-filling activity you usually do. As we are in the field of Adult Education, we all know very well the importance of reading; it is truly the best way to prepare. To prepare to think, to learn, to know! But I sometimes wonder what has happened to the interest in this preparation thing called reading. Hence, the title of this blog. But here are three things you will know about, be better prepared for, or learn about if you have chosen to read this far. (Thank you, you get it!)

  1. IAACE Community Chat, Thursday, September 7th, 10:30 am ET. Let’s gather on the Zoom and Chat. The topics are always open, and you can drop in anytime in the hour. Jenn’s topic this week is AEFL Week; share what you have planned and how IAACE Community can help.
  2. Digital Skills Lab via Zoom on Thursday, September 7th, at 1:30 p.m. ET. The topic is Social Media Essentials. This is going to be a great help to your AEFL Week Preparation (Sept. 17-23)
  3. IAACE Conference Know Before You Go,  September 27-29, is almost upon us. Knowing this information about the conference will assist you to be better prepared. Knowing how you win the door prizes, Being on Central Time in Michigan City, and the e-program will be released on September 21st.

We know the importance of reading, so let’s choose to do it! Because if you aren’t prepared, it is probably because you choose not to read something, and you can’t blame the messenger if you didn’t read the message.

There are many good quotes about reading, but I love this one the most.

“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” —Margaret Fuller

Hey, you!  The one who read all of this. You my friend are a leader.
