Sometimes Done is Better Than Perfect

Bravo, our first-ever Virtual Institute is under our belt! I personally would like to thank each person who assisted with the event planning and the event itself. Bravo Committee, well done!  Thanks also to all the presenters, including our keynote, Blair Milo! You do not have to share your expertise, time, and energy to help others, but you choose to share your time,  talents, and expertise. We greatly appreciate all the time and energy to prepare and deliver your presentations! Thank you!

I’d also like to thank everyone who attended the event. Did we have a few glitches? Yes. Were you patient and kind when you asked for help? Yes!

I would also like to thank our sponsors, Career North, Texas Instruments, Burlington English, Essential Education, and New Reader Press. Because of the assistance that these sponsors put forth, your cost to attend is lower, plus you get the added value of their knowledge and resources. It is a WIN-WIN!

A special thank you to our sponsor Neil Richmund, Connectable. Thank you for making our own Connectable platform come to life. I could not have pulled it off as smoothly as we did without Neil and his crew. So Grateful!!

We pulled it all together within our new platform, virtual.iaace.com, in a few weeks. Was it perfect? No. But sometimes done is better than perfection and really is perfect even possible?

“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.”

John Lydgate

That is the quote that comes to mind when I ask that question.  But that doesn’t mean that we don’t want to get feedback from our attendees and sponsors on the event.  Without helpful information or criticism that is given on the event, how could we possibly improve it?  We would greatly appreciate all the forms of feedback: appreciation, coaching, and evaluation! Appreciation Feedback lets us know you understand the hard work our team put into the event; it also motivates us. Coaching is where we hope that you will try to help with the things that weren’t perfect. And Evaluations will help us align expectations and tells us where we stand.  So will you help us be better? Please take a few minutes of your time and write some feedback; the link is here and at the bottom. Thanks in advance for sharing your feedback, and for those that have already submitted your feedback, thanks for sharing.
What is the next step after providing feedback? We are looking for more committee members on the Conference Committee, we are pulling together two events this year for you, and we would love more input and ideas for the Fall Conference; please consider joining the Conference Committee to continue the input and to be a part of creating an event that we will all be proud of in the Fall.

“None of us is as smart as all of us.” -Ken Blanchard.

Together we will provide the professional development that benefits everyone from the newest instructors, veteran teachers, support staff/administrators, and all Directors from the newbie to the maestro! We have some exciting things to come to the Fall Conference, and we hope you will make your own connections to the Connect Four theme and be a part of the lifelong learning process.

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” -Mahatma Gandhi.

I’m thankful to continue learning and growing with IAACE and all of the kind-hearted members that make this position an absolute pleasure to do.

The last thing I will provide is reminders that the post-event survey (feedback), Professional Development Points link, and the platform link is available at at iaace.com/virtual-insititute/.

We will have all the recorded sessions on the platform very soon; if you selected yes to the calculator gift from Texas Instruments, you should have received an email directly from Texas Instruments, Michelle Grooms, last week.  Be sure and double-check your spam or junk folder; reach out to me if you did not receive it.

I’m not perfect, but I want nothing more than to deliver the best experience to all IAACE members and connections. I promise always to listen and continue to learn and grow with this wonderful organization.

Please allow me to listen…Join me on Thursdays at 9:30 CDT/10:30 EDT for Jenn’s chat on Zoom or chat with me on the chat feature on the website and/or the platform, or schedule a time that works for both our schedules.

“Nothing I say this day will teach me anything. So if I’m going to learn, I must do it by listening.” – Larry King.

Thank you!
