2014 Goals – and a Giveaway!

By Lisa Schriefer

Happy New Year! What an exciting day this is… the first page of a new calendar, the first of 365 new days full of opportunity! (One of which includes the opportunity to win a $100 gift card, read on!)

I don’t know about you, but I get excited about setting goals and dreaming about the future. And what better time of year, what better day of the year, than today! For those of you who are adult educators, I know you ask your students to write down their goals, break down the barriers, plan their action steps, celebrate the successes, revisit and revise, etc. What do you say we take our own advice, walk the walk, and get intentional about our goals this year too?

If you need a little help getting started, grab a fancy or scrap piece of paper and just write down 3 things you would be really excited to make happen in 2014. If you want to take your goal setting up a notch (or 10), check out this nifty list a professional planner created last year and have fun with it, or even use an app. Just start somewhere, and as luck would have it, Kevin Hunter will be posting here next week about how to get clear on our why… which is ultimately what will motivate each of us to make those goals happen!

We’d like to share with you one of IAACE’s goals for 2014 and encourage you to join in the fun! >> We want all of you to join us in our online community and reap the benefits of really interacting with the resources and each other. We want you to feel at home here on our website, Facebook page, Twitter feed, blog posts, forums, etc. There are no wrong answers, and we hope you feel comfortable saying what’s on your mind, starting a new conversation, answering someone’s question, etc.!

We’ve created a campaign to help you get your feet wet and get connected with your online community. For each of the ways you choose to participate by January 22nd, drum roll please… you will earn entries to win a $100 gift card from your choice of the following to be emailed directly to your inbox: Target, Chipotle, iTunes, Home Depot, Starbucks, or IndyReads*.

So let’s connect, share ideas, and advocate for a great year in adult education! (And perhaps win the chance to give yourself one more gift this holiday season and beyond!)

Be sure to share something that’s on your list to make happen in 2014 in the comments below – and you’ll be on your way to your first entry!

*IndyReads gift card is limited to those who are able to visit and redeem in person.
